On September 25, Lecture Hall 301 of the Jianghan University Teachers and Students Activity Center was packed with people and resounded with waves of applause. The opening ceremony of the “First Innovation and Entrepreneurship Carnival of Jianghan University” themed “Dare to Explore, Excel in Innovation, Win the Future’ and the appointment ceremony of entrepreneurship mentors were held here. Vice President Li Weidong, on behalf of the university, announced the opening of the carnival and issued a call to all Jianghan University students to “define youth with struggle and build dreams for the future with innovation”.
Li Weidong pointed out that the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is reshaping the development landscape, and “fields of new-quality productive forces such as artificial intelligence, life and health, and low-carbon technology have opened up boundless possibilities for young people”. He emphasized that the university will take this carnival as a fulcrum to continuously build a curriculum system featuring in-depth integration of “general education, professional education, and innovation & entrepreneurship education”, connect with the “College Students Staying in Wuhan” Project, and create a full-chain ecosystem covering “creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship”, so as to “enable every spark of wisdom to have the opportunity to illuminate reality and every youth dream to find the soil to take root and germinate”.
At the opening ceremony, 10 experts from leading enterprises in the industry, investment and financing institutions, and well-known universities were appointed as the 2025 entrepreneurship mentors of Jianghan University.
Huang Yi, co-partner of Wuhan Dongyu Intellectual Property Service Group, delivered a speech as the representative of entrepreneurship mentors. He shared a number of successful cases of college students’ on-campus entrepreneurship and guided everyone on how to find "golden ideas for entrepreneurship".
Chen Zhicheng, executive director of the Development Research Institute of Wuhan Talent Group, gave a keynote speech titled “Dual-Basis Model, Win the Future - Empowering the New Ecosystem of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Teachers and Students in Colleges and Universities”. He proposed that the dual-drive of “base + fund” can provide one-stop solutions to the pain points of college projects, such as “lack of scenarios, lack of funds, and lack of markets”, enabling the creative ideas of teachers and students to be transformed on the frontline of the industry.
Professor Ding Xiuhao from the School of Management of Huazhong University of Science and Technology delivered a report titled “The Meaning of Life Lies in ‘Creation’ - Logic and Practice of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for College Students”. He pointed out that against the backdrop of the intelligent era, the meaning of life has transcended the instinct of survival and shifted to the pursuit of creating value. As a group with the greatest innovative vitality, college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship practices are becoming an important carrier to interpret the meaning of creative life. He encouraged the students to move forward courageously on the track of innovation with a clear understanding of future technology and firm confidence in entrepreneurship, empower their dreams with technology, and achieve the future with practical actions!
The wonderful sharing by experts and professors won waves of applause from the students. After the ceremony, university leaders, mentors, and participating students went to the “College Students’ Creative Market” and viewed more than 50 creative market projects, including traditional Chinese medicine cultural and creative products, 莱茵藻 tea (Laiyin Algae Tea), and artistic jewelry. According to the relevant person in charge, this carnival will last until the end of December. Through various forms such as creative markets, project roadshows, thematic lectures, investment-financing matchmaking, and policy promotion, it will further create a favorable campus cultural atmosphere, effectively stimulate college students’ enthusiasm for innovation and entrepreneurship, and continuously strengthen and promote the work of students’ innovation and entrepreneurship.
