Jianghan University hosted a new quality productivity forum at the JHU Hall of the Sci-tech Innovation Building on Oct. 26. The forum themed “Developing New Quality Productivity and Igniting Green New Growth Drivers.” The forum garnered the collective wisdom of political leaders, academic experts, and industry professionals, focusing on the optimization and elevation of industrial structure propelled by green, low-carbon development and innovative paradigms. Participants also deliberated on the commercialization of green sci-tech advancements and green, high-quality development.
Over 300 people attended the forum. They included Qin Daoming, Secretary of the CPC Jianghan University Committee, Jing Xinhua, President of Jianghan University, Xiang Yue, Vice President of Jianghan University, Xie Changjun, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone and member of the Party Leadership Group of Hannan District People’s Government, Luo Wei, Deputy Director and member of the Party Leadership Group of Wuhan Ecological Environment Bureau, Yuan Yuanming, Deputy Director and member of the Party Leadership Group of Wuhan Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, Du Weihua, Deputy Mayor of Xiantao Municipal People’s Government, Yin Jie, Deputy Director and member of the Party Leadership Group of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Xiantao City. The heads of relevant departments and schools, lecturers of special reports, representatives of signing enterprises, teachers and students from the university also participated. The forum was presided over by Xiang Yue.
On behalf of JHU, Qin Daoming delivered a speech to welcome honorable guests and express heartfelt gratitude for their concern for the development of JHU and support for the forum. He pointed out that Xi Jinping, Secretary General of the CPC Central Committee, emphasized that developing new quality productivity is an endogenous requirement and a pivot of high-quality development;at the 16th BRICS Summit, Xi reiterated that we should boost global green development, promote green development through the entire industrial chain, so as to increase the “green quotient” of development and improve its quality; a major strategic measure for developing new quality productivity is to make coordinated efforts to promote the integrated reform of systems and mechanisms pertaining to education, science and technology, and talent, and that the goal of JHU is to build an application-oriented university in the new era. JHU has held a series of academic activities, which have achieved good results. The new concepts and new technologies of JHU, represented by the theory and practice of precision blasting, microalgae biological research, and the MNP marker method for identifying plant varieties, have made unique contributions to empowering new quality productive forces. Qin said that taking this forum as an opportunity to further gather wisdom from all sectors, JHU will conduct in-depth discussions on the development trends, challenges, and opportunities of new productivity, and to promote closer collaboration between “governments, industries, universities, research institutes, and end-users,” so as to contribute wisdom and strength to the sustainable development of the economy and society.
At the signing ceremony, Jing Xinhua gracefully penned university-level cooperation agreements with 16 esteemed institutions, while the heads of schools and departments sealed faculty-level collaborations with 10 entities. Spanning a multitude of sectors, including industry, agriculture, tourism, and services, these projects embody JHU’s pragmatic approach of opening to, integrating with, and service for the society; they underscore JHU’s profound commitment to furnishing robust scientific, intellectual, and human resources to support Wuhan’s development. This endeavor not only breathes new life into the pursuit of JHU’s high-quality growth but also renders significant contributions to the economic and social progress of Wuhan.
The keynote speakers of the forum included Prof. Ren Wei from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Wei Dong from the South China University of Technology, Li Heng, Deputy General Manager of China National Building Materials Green Energy CO., LTD., and Hu Changfeng, Dean of the Institute of Microalgae Synthetic Biology and Green Manufacturing of Jianghan University. They delved into the application and emerging trends of new quality productive forces across various industries from their unique professional vantage points. The insightful discussions and exchanges of the experts are a source of intellectual nourishment and innovative drive for both theoretical research and practical implementation in the realm of new quality productive forces, offering fresh perspectives and invaluable insights to for new productivity to fuel high-quality development.
