In order to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's series of important statements on labor education and actively explore a labor education model with Jianghan University characteristics, the inauguration ceremony of the Jianghan University Labor Education Practice Base was held on October 25 in Luosigang Village, Xieshan Street, Caidian District. President Jing Xinhua and relevant department heads attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by the Head of the Student Affairs Department. The deputy party secretaries of each School, labor education practice mentors, directors of student offices, counselors, and student representatives also participated in the event.
Student Representative Luo Zhangyu from the School of Business delivered a speech. She volunteered to start her journey of labor education from her first year, integrating the spirit of Jianghan University with the spirit of labor. Through labor, she aims to cultivate virtue, enhance personal development, apply skills to succeed, pursue inclusivity and progress, and foster innovation.
The honoree of the title 'Hubei Jingchu Craftsman,' Professor Dai Xigang from the School of Life Sciences, delivered a speech as a model worker representative. Drawing from his personal experience, he encouraged the faculty and students present: only by engaging in labor can one truly understand its essence, and only through hard work and resilience can one face technological challenges. We must uphold the spirit of craftsmanship, continually research, and strive to improve our professional skills. Through diligent labor and persistent effort, we can achieve outstanding success in our fields. 'The advancement of science and technology only changes the form and means of labor, but the essence and spirit of labor will never become outdated.'
Amidst warm applause, the attending leaders presented appointment letters to the labor education practice mentors and took group photos with them. Jiang Ting, a student from the School of Humanities, led the faculty and students in making the solemn pledge: 'Labor is the most honorable.' Finally, Jing Xinhua unveiled the plaque for the Labor Education Practice Base, congratulating on the official launch of the base.
After the unveiling ceremony, the attending leaders, along with the faculty and students present, entered the cultivation area to participate in the seedling planting activity. Digging, planting, and watering, under the guidance of agricultural technicians, everyone carefully learned the specific steps of planting seedlings and put them into practice. Through the collective effort of all faculty and students, the young cabbage seedlings were neatly arranged and full of vitality.
Next, JHU will further implement the relevant requirements of labor education in the new era, fully embrace the educational philosophy of promoting the 'five educations' simultaneously, and integrate labor education into the entire process of talent development. We will continuously expand the forms and methods of labor education, guiding students to actively participate in labor practice, and steadily build a large classroom for labor education that fosters virtue through labor, enhances intelligence through labor, strengthens the body through labor, and cultivates beauty through labor.
