The 8th Ministerial on Climate Action (MoCA) was held in Wuhan on July 22nd to 23rd, with over 30 ministerial representatives from multiple countries attending the event. Ding Zhongli, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Xu Yiqi, English major student from the School of Foreign Languages of Jianghan University (JHU) served as a translation liaison for the conference. With her enthusiastic service and professional capabilities, Xu undertook various tasks including language translation, transportation guidance, consultation responses, and cultural tourism promotion, fully demonstrating the youth vitality and responsibility of JHU’s young students. MoCA, initiated by China and co-launched with relevant countries in 2017, aims to advance global climate action and improve global climate governance. It has played a unique role in building international consensus on green development and promoting collective action in climate governance. After two rounds of strict selection by the conference organizing committee, Xu Yiqi was selected for the foreign affairs protocol team of this conference, providing a series of language services including liaison interpretation, meeting interpretation, and foreign affairs reception. Before the event, a foreign affairs training meeting was held to provide general training for the volunteers. Each volunteer was responsible for liaising with a foreign delegation and a provincial department, providing "one-on-one accompanying" work. Xu was responsible for liaising with the Swiss delegation, handling everything from email communication, arrival and departure, tour guidance, to document translation, conference company, and liaison interpretation. She approached every task with a high sense of responsibility, fully leveraging her language skills and professional qualities to ensure the smooth progress of the conference and contribute her own strength to the advancement of global climate governance.

In recent years, the School of Foreign Languages has fully exerted its language advantages and talent resources, and organized students to participate in a series of international events, including the China 2019 World Stamp Exhibition, the 36th Hundred Flowers Film Festival in 2022, the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in 2022, and the 2024 Sino-International Entrepreneurs Auto Valley Forum. The school strives to cultivate students' international communication abilities and volunteering spirit by providing multilingual volunteer services in various fields such as sports, culture, and education. The volunteers have thrown themselves into the volunteer work with full enthusiasm, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility, team spirit, and excellent foreign language skills, contributing to the cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
