This year marks the first year of the implementation of the newly revised State Secrets Law and its implementing regulations. In order to promote the study and dissemination of the law and regulations, and advance the “State Secrets Legal Education into Schools” initiative, on November 13, the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of State Secrets, in collaboration with the Municipal Education Bureau, Jianghan University, Wuhan University of Business, Wuhan Software Engineering Vocational College, and Wuhan Urban Vocational College, jointly organized the Wuhan University Students Confidentiality Knowledge Competition. After rigorous selection through internal preliminary rounds, four teams with a total of 12 contestants from various municipal universities gathered at the final competition held at the JHU Sci-Tech Innovation Building.

Since September, nearly 20,000 freshmen from the four municipal universities have widely studied the State Secrets Law and related knowledge through various forms, including the first class of the semester, special counseling sessions, class meetings, and online self-study. JHU specifically provided freshmen with copies of the books “National Security and State Secrets Guidelines for College Students” and “Basic Knowledge of State Secrets for College Students”, and organized three state secrets knowledge exams.

In his speech, Vice President Zhang Hongxing warmly welcomed the leaders, teachers, and students who attended the event on behalf of JHU. He emphasized the extreme importance of secrecy work for the nation, the people, organizations, and individuals. He expressed the hope that through this event, students would always remember the importance of keeping state secrets in their future studies and work, strictly adhere to regulations, and contribute to safeguarding national security and interests.

The Confidentiality Knowledge Competition covered topics such as the Party and state's policies on state secrets, state secrets laws and regulations, state secrets responsibilities and obligations, and information security. The competition was divided into three segments: “Q&A”, “Race Against Time”, and “Level-up Challenge”. On-site, the contestants remained calm and composed, facing challenges head-on, fully demonstrating their solid understanding of confidentiality knowledge and high levels of teamwork. After fierce competition, JHU won the second prize in the team category, and student Xiao Yongcheng achieved first place in the individual category.

This competition effectively stimulated the interest and enthusiasm of the faculty and students at the university to learn about state secrets laws and regulations, while strengthening the awareness that “every citizen has the responsibility to safeguard national secrets.” The university will take this competition as an opportunity to continuously innovate in the methods of state secrets education and publicity, aiming to comprehensively enhance the confidentiality awareness and skills of all faculty and students.
