In order to further strengthen school-enterprise cooperation and deepen the integration of industry and education, on the afternoon of March 5th, JHU held a exchange symposium titled 'Promoting Development through the Integration of Production and Education and Cultivating New Talents through School-Enterprise Collaboration' with well-known intelligent manufacturing enterprises in Wuhan, including Gree Electric Appliances and Yunwei Technology. More than 20 participants, including enterprise representatives, leaders of the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, and key scientific researchers, engaged in in-depth dialogues.
The enterprise representatives first visited the key laboratories of the school and conducted on-site inspections of teaching and research facilities such as the Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory, Additive Manufacturing Laboratory, and Robotics Technology Laboratory. The school and the enterprises carried out on-site exchanges on specific technical issues such as equipment process optimization and intelligent production line transformation.
At the symposium, Yu Wuxin, Dean of the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, stated in his speech that currently, during the critical period of Wuhan's construction of a national advanced manufacturing center, the school is focusing on building an integrated innovation system of 'industry, education, research, and application'. This in-depth docking with leading enterprises in the industry will create new opportunities for precisely matching discipline construction with industrial needs.
Liu Xia, Deputy Dean of the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, introduced the school's talent cultivation and discipline construction situation, and discussed mutually beneficial and win-win development paths with the enterprises. That is, to build a broader practical platform for promoting the high-quality operation of the school and the high-quality employment of students, and to provide technical support and talent guarantee for the enterprises.
Luo Wenyuan, Assistant to the General Manager of Gree Electric Appliances Wuhan Company, shared the enterprise's practical experience in intelligent manufacturing transformation. He particularly mentioned, 'We hope to achieve technological breakthroughs in areas such as the application of industrial robots and the development of intelligent detection systems through joint research and development between the school and the enterprise.' Xiong Yueqin, General Manager of Yunwei Technology, introduced the enterprise's innovative achievements in the construction of the industrial Internet platform and expressed the willingness to jointly promote the innovation and development of the intelligent manufacturing industry with the school.
Fan Meng, Manager of the Wuhan Company of Intelligent Equipment, vividly demonstrated Gree's independently developed core products such as the intelligent warehousing system and numerical control machine tools through video presentations.
During the free exchange session, participants from both the school and the enterprises had lively discussions around the issues of common concern.
Yang Renqiang, Director of the Scientific Research Department, stated in his summary that it is of profound practical significance to establish a normalized industry-education-research cooperation mechanism between the school and the enterprises in aspects such as talent cultivation, joint technical research, and the construction of internship and training bases. He suggested that both the university and the enterprises should conduct more in-depth and substantive discussions around the construction of the 'Provincial Industrial Technology Innovation Consortium' and the 'Wuhan Industrial Innovation Joint Laboratory'.
