As the roc spreads its wings toward the horizon, dream-chasers sail adrift on the light of the future. On the morning of June 19th, Jianghan University held 2025 Graduation & Degree Awarding Ceremony in the gymnasium, with the “Shimmer・Dream-Building” School Exhibition igniting the atmosphere. A total of 4,137 undergraduates and 742 postgraduates concluded their academic journeys and embarked on new voyages here. They embraced each other and took keepsake photos, promising to meet in the future.
The ceremony, themed “Jianghan Splendor Enligtens the Future”, called on the youth of Jianghan University to shoulder new-era missions, showcase their spirit in the new journey of Chinese path to modernization, and carve out brilliant futures with wisdom and dedication.
Qin Daoming, Secretary of the CPC Jianghan University Committee presented the flag to volunteers of the Western Development Program. Jing Xinhua, President and Chairman of the University Degree Evaluation Committee of Jianghan University delivered a speech. Xie Xianqi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Jianghan University Academic Committee, awarded honorary certificates to outstanding graduate representatives.
In his speech titled Raise the Sail of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Start a Brilliant Chapter of
Life, Jing Xinhua congratulated the students on completing their studies on behalf of all faculty and staff. He also expressed profound respect and heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated teachers and supportive parents who had played pivotal roles in the students’ growth. Reflecting on the past four years, Jing emphasized that the class of 2025 had journeyed alongside the university, evolving in tandem. These students were not only merely participants and witnesses but also active builders and contributors, who stand up to their responsibility for the university’s pursuit of becoming a high-level urban institution and advancing its “Double First-Class” initiative.
Jing Xinhua exhorted students to confront the surging tides of the AI era and pioneer their own entrepreneurial frontiers. Citing the exemplars of Xu Mengjie and Gesang Zhuoma from the class of 2025, he illuminated how deep-rooted patriotism serves as the wellspring of innovative enterprise, urging students to interweave personal aspirations with national commitment. Through the trajectories of alumni Chen Yulong and Wu Li, he underscored that lifelong learning constitutes the sustained momentum for innovation, inspiring students to maintain intellectual voracity and cosmic curiosity and applying new knowledge, technologies, and paradigms to navigate epochal currents with precision. Using graduate students Li Xin and Xu Mengyue as cases, he demonstrated that the audacity to ideate coupled with the acumen to execute represents the linchpin of innovative success, encouraging them to translate creative blueprints into tangible outcomes by anchoring on real-world challenges. Drawing from the competitive journeys of the Jianghan University women’s football team, Ji Bowen, and Peng Xuan, he highlighted that embracing failure is key to resilient innovation, urging students to face trials, transform setbacks into growth nutrients, and let every fall harden into a medal of experience.
Jing Xinhua affectionately conveyed his message to the graduating students: Your alma mater will always be the warmest harbor and the most steadfast support on your journey of growth—an “innovation supply station” and “energy refueling station”. The gate of your alma mater will always remain open for you. On your future voyages, should you encounter storms or feel weary, its spring breeze will propel you to forge ahead, and its beacon of spirit will forever illuminate your path forward. He wished the graduates to anchor their lives in “virtue,” expand their careers through “application,” embrace the world with “inclusiveness,” and ignite the torch of the era with “innovation.” May they navigate the tides of times with the oars of entrepreneurship and innovation, and write their own brilliant chapters in the great cause of national rejuvenation.
Li Zhigao, the undergraduate student representative, reflected on his four-year academic journey, vividly illustrating the relentless efforts and growth of Jianghan University students in the pursuit of scientific research. At this moment of farewell, he pledged to journey together with fellow graduates toward their ideals. Carrying the spirit and cherished values of Jianghan University, they now embark on new paths to write splendid new chapters of their lives.
Postgraduate representative Huang Jiawen shared her research journey. She expressed that graduation is not the end but a beginning, and she looks forward to stepping out into the vast world alongside all members of the Jianghan University community to answer the exam of our times.
International student representatives, twin brothers Si Bin and Si Hua from Morocco, greeted the audience in Wuhan dialect, instantly igniting thunderous applause across the venue. During their time at Jianghan University, they not only experienced the profound depth of Chinese culture through the everyday vitality of Wuhan but also discovered new life directions through personal growth. They aspire to transcend cultural differences and contribute their share to fostering friendship between China and Morocco while promoting cultural exchanges between the two nations.
Teacher representative Qu Guangyu encouraged the students to bloom like flowers on the winding journey of life. Reflecting on her teaching career, she shared stories between herself and students, including Chen Yao, Liu Tian, and Xiao Yaowen, conveying that life is never a smooth path. She advised students to navigate obstacles like a river—flowing around barriers and advancing with resilience. She urged students to step beyond the classroom, immerse themselves in practice, and maintain an inquisitive mind, boldly exploring uncharted territories to expand the dimensions of life. She emphasized the importance of holding onto hope, facing challenges head-on, and transforming every setback into a stepping stone for progress. With the tenacity and courage of Jianghan University’s students, she encouraged them to embrace the diverse wonders of life.
Alumni representative Yao Wei, captain of the Wuhan Jianghan University Women’s Soccer Club, reminisced about her time as a student at Jianghan University. Drawing parallels to her growth on the football field, she told her juniors that life is never a standardized track, and success is not achieved overnight. “This is not a farewell but a lineup before the kickoff”, she said. She wished all her juniors to uphold virtue, apply their knowledge, embrace diversity, and innovate boldly. She encouraged them to retain the courage of their youth and write their own glorious chapters on the field of life.
Subsequently, Jing Xinhua led the faculty in conferring degrees upon master’s graduates, outstanding undergraduate graduates, and international graduates, adjusting their tassels and offering handshakes of congratulations. Faculty members from each school performed the tassel-turning ceremony for their respective graduates. Amid the melodious tunes of graduation songs, teachers and students exchanged blessings, shared warm embraces, captured memories in photos, and vowed to embark on new journeys together.
Vice President Zhang Hongxing presided over the graduation ceremony. Vice Presidents Jia Yongsheng, Xiang Yue, and Liu Jiyan announced the following documents: Jianghan University’s Decision on Conferring Master’s Degrees to 650 Graduates Including Liu Jiamin, Jianghan University’s Decision on Conferring Bachelor’s Degrees to 4,125 Graduates of the Class of 2025 Including Gu Fumei, Jianghan University’s Notice on the Graduation of 12 International Students Including El Motassim Billah Saad, and Jianghan University’s Notice on the Graduation of 1,199 Continuing Education Students Including Du Xiaosong. Members of the university’s Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, heads of schools and departments, faculty, staff, and alumni representatives attended the ceremony.
