When a racing car carves a graceful lateral arc across the track, the friction between tire and asphalt becomes more than the roar of speed—it becomes a science lesson in automotive engineering and motion dynamics. Leveraging the China Racing Academy and the Urban Fashion Sports Science Popularization Base at Jianghan University, the 2025 National Rally/Off-Road Racing Driver Training Program was held on campus in late September. In addition, from October 1–3, students from JHU assisted on-site at the China Automobile Drift Championship, contributing to the smooth operation of the event.

Relying on the university’s Urban Fashion Sports Science Popularization Base, the 2025 National Rally/Off-Road Racing Driver Training Program transforms motorsports from a “niche competition” into a “popular science classroom.” Through an integrated model of “theory instruction + dynamic demonstration + simulation experience, the program unveils the scientific essence of drifting: from the “centrifugal force balance” in Newtonian mechanics, to the “mystery of tire friction coefficients,” to the “principles of dynamic chassis tuning.” Participants came to understand that drifting is not reckless driving, but rather a precise collaboration of engineering aesthetics and human control.

From October 1 to 3, the 2025 Wuhan International Motorsport Carnival and Wuhan Round of the 2025 China Automobile Drift Championship reignited excitement at the Wuhan International Circuit. More than 80 students and faculty members from China Racing Academy were invited to serve as volunteers and event officials, contributing to the event’s successful completion.

The championship served not only as a high-level sporting event, but also as a real-world test for China’s motorsport talent pipeline. Our students actively engaged in race operations and service, gaining hands-on experience in event organization. By closely linking a national-level competition platform with the university’s talent-training ecosystem, the event significantly broadened students’ professional horizons and strengthened their practical abilities and professional competence. This initiative vividly illustrates our school’s efforts to advance industry-education integration and to innovate the model of applied talent cultivation—demonstrating our distinctive approach of “teaching through competition and integrating learning with racing.”
