On the afternoon of June 26, Jianghan University held its 2026 “Safe Study Abroad” pre-departure training session in Jiangda Hall of the Science and Innovation Building. Huang Nianping, Second-level Inspector from the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, attended and delivered a special training session.
During the session, Huang centered on the Ministry of Education’s Safe Study Abroad initiative, taking into account the actual conditions of overseas exchanges by university faculty and students in Hubei. He provided a systematic briefing on core topics such as personal and property safety abroad, foreign-related laws and regulations, cross-cultural adaptation, risk prevention, and emergency response, urging all participants to establish a firm bottom-line mindset regarding safety.
Wang Yinghui from the University Hospital then gave a special lecture on first aid and the management of common illnesses. Drawing on common health risks, she covered practical skills including emergency response to sudden injuries and illnesses, the selection of essential medicines, and daily health protection abroad, providing practical guidance for safeguarding the health of faculty and students overseas.
The training session was a key measure by the university to implement the Ministry of Education’s Safe Study Abroad initiative and the provincial education department’s requirements for international education and talent development. By providing pre-departure education, it helped address gaps in faculty and students’ knowledge of safety and health abroad. Going forward, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation will continue to improve support services for outbound faculty and students, ensuring that pre-departure training, overseas follow-up, and post-return debriefing are conducted in a thorough and effective manner. The goal is to help Jianghan University faculty and students confidently pursue exchanges and studies overseas, broaden their international horizons, tell China’s story well, and make the voice of Jianghan University heard.
More than 200 people attended the training, including relevant heads from the Office of Academic Affairs, the Graduate School, the Department of Student Affairs, and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation; faculty and researchers scheduled or planning to take part in overseas exchanges or visiting programs this year; currently enrolled undergraduates and graduate students scheduled or planning to study abroad; and teachers leading student overseas exchange and study programs.
