From Sept 19 to 21, the on-site exchange event of 2025 HEP Cup National College Students’ Excellent Short Video Show on “Telling China’s Stories in Foreign Languages” was held at Jianghan University. Organized by the Higher Education Press (HEP), the event drew over 300 teachers and students from universities across the country.
Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Higher Education Press, Jia Ruiwu and President of Jianghan University, Jing Xinhua attended the activity. Jing outlined the university’s reform and development progress and observed that JHU would seize this opportunity to learn from the best practices and experience of universities nationwide; and the institution aims to continuously enhance its capacity for international exchange and communication, striving to cultivate more new-era talents equipped with global communication skills and innovative competencies. He expressed anticipation for collaborating with other institutions to explore more diverse and effective communication methods, jointly tell China’s stories more convincingly, enrich China’s voice, and let more people understand China in a better way.
The competition is themed “new era, new changes, surging tides, and extraordinary youth.” Participants should create works under one of three modules: “Tracing the Past”, “Observing the Present”, or “Looking to the Future.” They should comprehensively utilize diverse narrative techniques and audiovisual language to showcase contemporary youth’s reflections on the nation’s glorious history, splendid times, and the leaps in digital intelligence. Their works should demonstrate the achievements of China’s technological innovation integrated with traditional culture. Students from 1093 universities nationwide submitted 6915 works. After selections at the university and provincial levels, 118 works from 118 universities advanced to the national exchange event.
At this event, Jianghan University received the Outstanding Organization Award; Fu Shiwei, a teacher from the School of Foreign Languages at JHU, received the Outstanding Advisor Award; and the short video “Beyond the Time Difference” created by the JHU student team comprising Zhang Yuxuan, Zuo Xiru, Xiong Xi, and Fan Jiamin, won the unanimous praise of judges and the National First Prize for its novel perspective, excellent narrative, and vivid, fluent presentation.
